When to use something else
Public data has a ceiling. Here is where it stops, so you can pick the right tool.
Fields that only exist behind a login: a person's full connection list, mutual connections, or who viewed a profile never appear on the logged-out page. If you need those, a tool that runs on your own signed-in session will pull them, at the risk to that account. We stay on the public page on purpose, and that is the tradeoff.
